 | Experienced Teachers Effectively Putting Theory Into Practice Let our experience work for you. We know that what teachers want to know is “How would this particular practice look at my school site or in my classroom?” We will facilitate the implementation of current research based initiatives into practice at your site. In addition to developing instructional coaching and high school transition programs, we also train staff in Common Standards-Based Assessment, Curriculum Mapping, Differentiated Instruction, and Content-Area Literacy. At our school site, we have established a collaborative culture devoted to implementing research-based strategies so that our practices become systemic. We would like to work with you so that you may achieve the same. |
| Instructional Coaching A well designed and supported instructional coaching program builds capacity in teachers and positively impacts student learning. This school-based, job-embedded professional development encourages collaborative, reflective practice, promotes positive cultural change, and supports the systemic improvement efforts of schools. Designing and implementing an effective coaching model can be challenging. Sometimes, coaching models may not be adapted well. Often, coaching can fail to reach resistant teachers. Holden Educational Consultants can work with your site leadership team to design and implement a customized, sustainable coaching model that will build instructional and leadership capacity that will, in turn, increase student achievement. |
| High School Transition Programs
As the curriculum writers for the award-winning Crossroads transition course in the Sweetwater Union High School District (San Diego, CA), Holden Educational Consultants can help your school or district develop a similar transition course for incoming 9th graders. The centerpiece of our Crossroads course is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, and the pillars of our course are: developing effective habits, character development, study skills, pathways to post-secondary education, pathways to careers.
Our overarching goals were to help students feel connected to the school as well as improving the school culture. Crossroads helps students do better in school and helps them determine direction, develop decision-making skills, and live purposefully. Allow us to work with you to design a similar transition course to fit your school’s unique needs. |
