Instructional Coach David Holden

I am an English teacher at Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, California. Currently, I am on special assignment with my school as the school wide instructional strategies coach. I work with teachers in all disciplines to assist them in improving their instructional and assessment practices. In addition to those duties, I am on the site leadership team and I am the Principal’s Designee for English Learners. I hold both an elementary multiple-subject credential and a secondary single-subject credential in English. I have been teaching since 1989 at the elementary and secondary levels. My elementary experience has served me well as a high school instructor dealing with secondary literacy issues.

I have worked with the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory and WestEd, west coast organizations that are leaders in high school reform.  My efforts have been recognized by the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, the California League of High Schools, and the Franklin Covey organization.  Because of our shared commitment to transforming education in this country, several colleagues and I have formed a consulting group called the

American Alliance for Innovative Schools in order to better meet the professional development needs of schools and districts around the nation. Our website is at www.innovationinschools.org
